I glance down at the sand box
from the sky then from the ground
I JUMP........
Landing in the sand pit
I feel the grainy sand between my toes
My dragon feels the wet and squishy sand next to her large talons
I hop back to my dragon
the beast I call the swings
I sore and fly through the air
on my lovely dragon
I fly landing with a thud
I sprint back to the swings
Giggling like mad they could here us
across the street
Laughing singing jumping
just like my funny dragon
I am flying up and down again
through the air and the clouds
I feel the wind in my face
and the breeze through my hair
I will fly like this forever
in the rain, sun, and snow
I ride my dragon
On top of the WORLD

Book Talk- Freak the Mighty
Book: Freak the Mighty
Author: Rodman Philbrick
Short Description:
Freak and Max are best friends; they are both different than most people and are so thankful that they now have someone to be around. With Freak's mini body, and brilliants, and Max's huge body, and huge doubt, they are complete opposites. Freak just jumps right on Max's shoulders and suddenly they are nine feet tall. Max was raised by his grandparents, because his mom was murdered by his dad, who is now in jail, and Freak lives with only his mom, because his dad left the moment he found out his son would have a birth defect. Together they can balance out the lonely hole their past has left them. Together they can be Freak the Mighty.
Recommendation:
I recommend this book to people who like fictional stories about true friendship, this book was very touching and I think most readers would enjoy it. I think this book is good for our age group. The reading level is pretty easy, and it is very short, but inside is a really good story.
Freak the Mighty is available in our classroom library.
If you are going to read this book, do not read the reviews before you finish because one of them ruins the story for you before you even start!

DRAGONS
We stare down
toward the bottomless pit .
We launch ourselves
Screaming.
His powerful wings create
a dazzling gust of
wind, blowing in my face.
We hover for a moment
before plunging down.
I hold on for my life
as we soar downwards.
Just before hitting the bottom he
rears up.
He flaps his wings furiously
for the journey back to the top only
to start again.

Dragon
We stare down at the city
From the clouds.
My dragon flies in circles
Waiting to take me for a trip.
I am on my dragon's back,
I feel the breeze on my face.
I tell him "GO DOWN!"
He starts to swing down towards the ground.
I scream!
It feels fun and scary.
My dragon flies closer and closer to the ground.
Our toes barley touch the grass
and he swoops back up.
We laugh and fly to the clouds again.
