Persona Poem by Jonah

The End

the end is near

the end is now

that is the only thing in my mind

as a water bottle being recycled

is no choice

I will be made into anything

I will never see my family again

I could see the recycling box

there were many other desperate water bottle

screaming for help

there is nothing I can do

suddenly the humans grip opened

my life was falling

the end is near

the end is now

Digestive Poem From Grade 5

The Digestive System Poem

By: Jonah

Digestion is a process that begins when you eat

Food is the fuel; it’s the bodies’ treat.

Your teeth chew and chew and chew

Because that’s what they do.

Along comes the spit

To break it down a bit.

A muscle called the esophagus squeezes the food down

Into the stomach where it will be found

The food is turned into liquid

Destroying the bacteria, this is so wicked.

The small intestine keeps what we can use,

Separating it from refuse.

Next, the large intestine

Where waste becomes a solid.

Absorbed is the h20

Kerplop! Here we go…

Here are a few Friendship quotes I thought might be interesting

Friendship doubles your joys, and divides your sorrows.

hard to find but lucky to have.

Alien story from grade 5

The Weird Place

I was so tired; I had a football game in the morning, we won 35-21, & a hockey game in the evening, we lost 3-1. It was almost 11 o’clock. I closed my eyes, & went to sleep.
The next morning I found myself in a weird place, nothing looked the same.

The ground I walked on was covered in slime, which was constantly changing colour; it changed from blue to orange to purple to red. The sky was green with pink dots. I thought I saw five suns & three moons.

I continued walking; while I was walking I saw something move. I was scared. Immediately a voice said, “hi, I‘m
X5-9123A2”& you’re on planet Chan-zany. “Hi” I responded. “Who are you?” said the strange voice. “I’m Bram”.

He had a lot of weird bones, such as, 3 femurs & 3 tibias, 2 ginourmous craniums [because he was so smart.],
2 puny mandibles [because he said he doesn’t eat much], & 100 phalanges.

“Do you want me to show you my house?” he asked me. “O.k.”. After a long walk we made it to his house. We went inside.
When I walked in I decided to take a look around.

Inside I noticed he had around 5,000 kids & 3,000 wives. He had so many pets I couldn’t even count them. I went upstairs to find 20 giant beds made of titanium.

He asked me if I wanted a drink. “Sure”, he went into the kitchen to make me a drink. 10 seconds later he came in with 2 frog beers. I hesitated, & then took a sip.

It was around 8 o’clock. He said let’s get some sleep. The next morning I woke up at 12. I went downstairs & went to Taco King & had a taco for lunch.

As I came back to his house I knocked on the door made of glass, it shattered into 1,000,000 pieces. One of his wives said “Oiy vey”. “Sorry”. “Where is he?”
I asked. “At work”. “O.k.” thanks.

I went outside & lay down on the slime-covered grass. I fell asleep. I woke up at 5:00pm.

I was enjoying myself but I also missed my family. When he came home around 5:30pm I asked him, “can I go home”. He said the portal was not working. I asked him “how long will it take to rebuild it”. He replied “1,000,000 years.”
“OIY VEY.”I replied.

Digestion poem from grade 5

I get chowed down by these great big teeth.
I wonder what the’ll do to me.
They might make me easier to digest.
Too find what’s next go down to the chest.

Next is saliva all wet & gross.
All you need is a dose.
To clean your teeth & make them shine.
By the way they contain enzyme.

What’s next is the esophagus.
All slimy & disgusting.
A big muscle that squeezes food.
Now I know as do you.

I jump into a swimming pool of hydrochloric acid.
There’s plenty of antacid.
I exit the stomach slowly.
Although I still have quite a journey.

In the small intestine all the good stuff comes out of me.
Collected by these bumps called villi .
But still my journey is not done.
There’s much more fun to come.

I get the water sucked out of me.
All that water becomes pee.
But the rest continues on.
So turn on the fan.

Kerplop is the sound I here.
My brother has come very near.
He entered at his own risk.
Then I let one rip.

Jerusalem poem from grade 5

MY JERUSALEM POEM
By: Bram Samuels 6B

Jerusalem so beautiful
Jerusalem so biblical

In the old and new city
Religious people is what I see

In 1967 there was a war
Paratroopers, Jordanians, and a whole lot more

1000’s were killed at the wall
An Israeli flag was put on the wall

After we won
We had a celebration

The great walls still surround
And great wars still around

Jerusalem so beautiful
Jerusalem so biblical

Dialogue from grade 5

“Hi Hank”.
“Hi Bram”.
“What's up” said Bram.
“Not much” replied Hank.
“Hey Bram, have you seen the Canucks play.
“Yeah, they rule!” exclaimed Bram.
“Too bad about Anaheim beating us yesterday” said Hank.
“Yeah, 5-1 wasn’t it?” replied Bram.
“Anyway when did football season start?” asked Hank.
“The 29th of April” replied Bram.
“Have you played any baseball lately?” asked Hank.
“Yeah, a ton” said Bram enthusiastically.
“What about you”
“None”.
“Why not?” asked Bram.
“No time”
“Too bad” said Bram.
“Yeah” said Hank.
“Got to go!” said Bram.
“Bye” said Hank.
“Bye” said Bram.

An old story from grade 3

Mr. Nosher

By: Bram Samuels
Talmud Torah, Class 6B

Mr. Nosher ate way too much. Mrs. Madlik tryed to convince Mr. Nosher to stop eating so much. This went on all year. But he kept getting fatter day after day after day. Finally she had an idea. She asked him to try to lose weight. He thought about it a long time. Finally he agreed. Now he went to the gym a lot. And he finaly stoped eating so much. Now Mr. Nosher was eating just right, and he was eating like a normal human being. He was perfect, He also wasn't so fat any more. He became a canadian Olympic runner. He was world famous. He won the Olympic gold medal ten times, the silver five times and the bronze twice.

Poetry Response: Valentine for Ernest Mann

This poem was a free verse poem with one line break. Another very interesting thing about this poem is that the stanza went short long short long... Lastly, there are 5 stanzas not including the last line.

I am almost sure that Naomi Shihab is a very nice person to make a poem for a person that she doesn't even know. I would probably say I don't even know you so why should I waste my time on you especially if I was slightly famous.

My favorite part of the poem is when the man says "I thought they had such beautiful eyes." My interpretation for that sentence is that even though something or someone my be stinky or something like that they can still be beautiful. For example if you dont say or ask anything in class you could still be smart.
