You cannot "contrive" to write
a poem.
The poem will instantly take notice
and lash back at you.
It will transform itself into a blob
of words that are not worthy
even for your pet chihuahua.
You must write a poem
with a natural thrust of the heart.
Crystalline, translucent words
will pour forth into an arrangement
that was meant to be since the age
of the dinosaurs.
