Eden's Project

B.C.S.P.C.A.

The British Columbia Society for the Cruelty of Animals is a non-profit organization. It is an organization to help animals. They try to make life better for domestic, farm and wild animals. They provide many different services for 42,000 homeless, abused, injured and abandoned animals. The S.P.C.A. try’s to make sure that the animals have these five freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst
2. Freedom from pain and disease
3. Freedom from distress
4. Freedom from discomfort
5. Freedom to express behaviors that express well-being

I chose to help animals for many different reasons. First of all there aren’t many people who chose to help animals. Most people chose to help people organizations, which I think is good, but if we all help people then there is no one to help the animals, which is important. Second I think it is very sad what happens to some of these animals. Being abused or homeless is a terrible thing and the S.P.C.A. helps with these problems. Whenever I am looking for a pet I look at the S.P.C.A. first because I know that these animals need a good home after whatever they have been through.

There are many different ways to get involved with the S.P.C.A. Some of the ways that you can get involved is animal socialization or dog walking. If you don’t want to work with animals then you can volunteer at some of the special events. The events include walkathons, adoptathons, open houses and more. If you want to donate some money then you can enter the lottery, which also helps the animals. Vanessa and I are going to walk dogs that are in our neighborhood. We are then use the money that we made walking dogs and buy some dog toys, leashes etc. and donate them to the S.P.C.A.
