Tikkun Olam

Tikkun Olam

By Benny

Variety club is an organization that distributes much needed funding to children, and their families, with special needs throughout B.C.. Variety receives over 1,000 requests for financial assistance, medical emergencies, therapies, and equipment yearly. Variety tries to grant all these wishes with there constant volunteer work, emergency response funds, community fund raisers, and there major yearly events, such as: The Show of Hearts Telethon, BC Bowls for Kids, Children’s Radio-thons, Gold Heart Day, and Boat for Hope. Just to name a few.

Not only does Variety encourage and support young volunteers, but it goes the extra mile with having its own program, Young Variety. This program provides opportunities to young adults (19-29) to improve on there leadership and networking skills. Even though people under the age of 19 cant participate the program, Variety still opens its doors to young children who would like to volunteer, and gives support and learning experiences that will expand there charitable horizons for there future.

I proudly chose this cause for many reasons, but one unparticular was that my family has bean involved in this organization for many generations. Starting with my great grandfather, Irving Levenson, who was president of Variety for many years. Now me, and I’m trying to make my mark in Variety starting this year with my Tikkun Olam project.
