Out of every fictional character I have ever read about, I would like to meet Harry Potter. I would choose Harry Potter because the first series I ever read was the Harry Potter series so over the years that I have read Harry Potter, I have grown up with him. He is very much alive to me so I feel like I already know him. I also would like to meet him because I would love to hear all the details about Hogwarts that are not in the books.

Topic Sentence
Every week I watch the best program on television, Grey’s Anatomy, which is about a group of doctors with interesting jobs and even more interesting personalities. Izzie is a cardiothoracic surgeon who is always happy and cheerful until she gets cancer and becomes grumpy and annoyed all the time. Meredith is Izzie’s best friend, who is great except for the fact that she brings Izzie down by constantly telling her how upset she is with life. Christina is a brain surgeon and she doesn’t say much, but when she does it’s always dark and spooky. They’re all friends, but they spend a lot of time making each other upset. Together they make a great show, with great personalities to laugh at.

If I could meet any character in the world it would be Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series! I would love to meet Luna Lovegood because she has something different in her then anyone in the Harry Potter series. She knows about the craziest creatures like Crumple-Horned Snorkack, Boggarts and Grindylow. Luna has a curious mind and would be a very interesting person to meet.

Topic Sentence:The day I would like to forget
The first day of kindergarten was different for me (I have just came to Vancouver). My mom took me inside the classroom, and my teacher asked me how old I was, and I said "15" in Hebrew. After that I was so embarrassed, and I ran, and hid behind a door. As a five year old this was, a horrible day.

A day I would like to forget when I accidently went in to the men's bathroom. Right after we got outside we were walking to the parking lot and I said to my dad "I need to go to the washroom!" My dad said "Sure it's right there." So I walked down and I didn't see the men and women sign because I was looking at the clown blowing balloons and making animals. I walked while I watched and I looked at ahead of me and didn't see the signs. I accidently went into the men's bathroom and when I got there I smelled something horrible...! I saw a man and I thought "Where am I?" I realized I was in the men's bathroom. I almost screamed but instead I ran out so I wouldn't see something else. It was the worst time of my life!!
The End!!

I enjoy playing baseball
Four times a week I am at the baseball diamond playing ball regardless of rain or shine. Although it may seem like a bit much, but I love playing baseball. Every Tuesday I have a practice after school. I have a game every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Baseball is a very fun sport and gives me exercise! Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose. However I still love playing the game and that is why it is fine with me playing baseball four days a week.

Violet Boudelaire
From the moment I opened the first page of the first book of The Series of Unfortunate Events I was hooked. But not hooked on just anything. I was hooked on a girl, just a few years older than me. Her name was Violet Baudelaire. There was another part that got me hooked. It was the way Lemony Snicket captures the sorrow of the three Baudelaire orphans. Which still gives me the chills. I would love to meet Violet some day so that she can share her plans of how to leave the source of her misfortune and find a happier way of living. But of course she is just an imaginary character in Lemony Snicket’s mind.

Camp Hatikvah
Camp Hatikvah is one of my favorite places to be. Every year, I step off the bus, memories flooding back from the past years, and I am ready to make more. I love being with all my friends, having fun, not worrying about a thing, just making it the best summer ever. Camp is my home away from home!

Dani's Zip-lining
When you go up to Whistler Mountain you think ski. When I go up to Whistler Mountain I think zip-lining. I love to go zip-lining. You feel the rush of adrenalin right when you step off the ledge. The wind rushing past you as you increase speed on a downhill. When zip-lining you feel as though you are flying and free falling at the same time. Yet going through the trees or open air. You have freedom, it is like nothing you have ever felt before; and I just love it all.

Spongebob Squarepants
Two years ago, I memorized the SpongeBob theme song. Since then, I’ve wanted to meet him in person! Every time I turn on the T.V. I search for SpongeBob on guide. I think I’ve been obsessed with him ever since I realized that his name tells us that he’s a sponge named Bob that wears square pants. I want to meet him because I think we could really be friends! We both have weird laughs, we are kind of spazzy, and both have great friends!

Spending All Summer at Camp
Camp is always the highlight of my summer. I wish I could stay longer. A month at camp Hatikvah is always a blast! Filled with sports, docks and all my friends, you’d think it couldn’t get any better. If only I could stay the whole summer at my favourite camp! Well, I’m not too worried, when I’m a S.I.T I get to stay for the whole summer! Just a couple more years of waiting.

Every time I go to my locker I get pushed and shoved in the dreaded “old wing”. There’s this hallway in my school that desperately needs to be replaced. There are tons of teachers and students who need to get places on time. Every time your in the hall you get pushed and tripped on because it’s so small and narrow, and there are so many people trying to get through.

Its never fun playing sports on a gravel field at our school that's why I think we need grass. You always have that urge to be super safe when you are playing sports, so that you won't get rocks or even dust in your eyes. Now you know why we need grass at our school.

Yaakov's "What Our School Needs"
Out of all of the things that our school needs, our school needs grass. Grass is necessary because during almost every recess, at least one kid gets hurt because they trip or fall down and get a scratched knee because the field that we have is gravel. Lots of other kids at the school would agree with me because they have probably had the experience. I even have scares from falling down on the field. Even though we don't have a grass field, we still have a field, and we are lucky to have it. Although, or school still needs a grass field.

The best program Television
Full house is the best T.v show ever!. Full house is the best show because the show feels like it is reality. There are 8 seasons and each episode is different for example: D.J`s Birthday party or the family's dog comet finds his true love. That is why I love the show Full House!

A character from fiction I would like to meet
I would like to meet Phineas from the T.V. show ‘Phineas and Ferb’.
I would like to meet him because he is always building cool machines and doing fun stuff like giving a monkey a shower. I would also like to meet Phineas because he is always annoying his sister and he owns a pet platypus. I think that Phineas is very nice and if I met him he would let me ride in his time machine into the future!

What our School Needs the Most
Our narrow school hallways are always crowded with people, we need to enlarge them. Having these very narrow hallways can be very problematic because they tend to get stuffed easily. There are so many people in this school that we should have hallways that are wide enough for them to pass without much difficulty. We can not decrease the number of students, but we can however increase the width of these old hallways. You can almost suffocate in these hallways when they are crammed with students, enlarging these hallways is an absolute necessity.

The best program on television
The best program on television is the Fireplace Channel. I like it because every half an hour a guy pokes his hand into the fireplace to keep it going. If you don't have a fireplace, it makes you feel like you have one right in front of you. I also like the Fireplace Channel because there are no commercials. The Fireplace Channel is the best program on television because of those reasons.

Israel
There are things that I both love and hate about Israel. One of the things I love is sitting under the boiling heat in a nice comfy beach chair and getting a nice sun tan all day long. The thing I hate the most of all is that all the stores are closed on Saturday, so its boring (cause I can't buy chocolate). One of my favourite parts is going to the dead sea because you can float on the water for as long as you want and you won't sink! The down side of the dead sea is that if the salty water gets in your eyes it burns like crazy. Except for those few bad things Israel is pretty awesome!

TOPIC SENTENCE- MY FAVORITE T.V SHOW
By far my favourite show on television is grey’s anatomy. Although I have only seen this television show once, the gory, bloody scenes grab my attention to a great extent. I adore this show because there is so much action going on through out the one hour long episode. Wether it is in the Emergency room, Operating room or in the waiting area of the hospital, you will always be impressed about how interesting grey’s anatomy is.

Opening statement
Mr. Gelmon and fellow grade six students,
Google is a search engine that can get you anywhere you want and gives you access to millions on websites. There is no point in having books, encyclopedias, periodicals and primary sources when you can have it all with Google. At Google can you search about anything you want. There is endless information; we were so overwhelmed by having so much information to choose from. There are good quality websites and you can find images, videos and E-Mail, all of them available to you with just a click of a button. It can also save you lots of money and time because of online books, magazines, newspapers etc…
You have to buy books but you don’t have to buy Google. We have Nadav doing economy and food, Maayan doing agriculture, interest’s and language, Jennie doing culture and immigration and Josha doing population, government and laws Look at all of this information we got from one search engine.

Introduction: Wikipedia
Mr.Gelmon and fellow students,
Our group is the Wikipedia group and we feel that our source is the best in many aspects. Beating most other groups with our big advantage, there’s no limit to what you can find. There are over 20 mill Wikipedia pages and they come in all languages.
Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia. Many people do post to Wikipedia, but, on scientific matters, Wikipedia came close to the accuracy of Encyclopedia Britannica.
In our presentation we will be including: music, languages, population, art, cultural beliefs, technology, traditional clothing, culture, food and sports. We have learnt many interesting facts about Japan and Canada and are looking forward to sharing them with you.
Thank you.

Opening Statement
Mr. Gelmon and fellow grade six students,
In the future it is going to be important to know how to do research, and there are going to be many sources out there to use. Some sources are superior to others. We are here to show you that Wikipedia is by far the most superior source to use. Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia that is written by people educated in the subject and is checked by experts to make sure the information is correct. It is a great source for information and we will present it in the differences of Japanese and Canadian society. We will be presenting the topics Interests, ethnicity, languages, government, culture, economy, population and tourism.

Opening Statement
Mr. Gelmon and our fellow classmates,
Throughout your life you will need to do research for projects, jobs, and other things in your lifetime. To be able to research is one of the many skills you will need to learn in elementary school. This skill will take you on amazing journeys throughout your life. When you choose to research, use Google. Our group, the Googles has found amazing information with this source. Google is accessible; convenient and you can use it on any computer model with Internet access. Google is easy to use and is available in any language. Google has more information than most other sources (Books, Wiki’s, Primary Sources/Chronicles, and Periodicals.) Let me ask you, how many times have you used Google, Google images or even Gmail? Most of your answers, would be everyday. Google offers so many programs that make our source better than the rest.
Thank You,
Barbara, Danielle, Ashley, Yaakov & Gabriel

Son of the mob 2
Written By: Gordan Korman
Vince goes to L.A. to go to film school so he can get as far away from home as he possibly can. Vince is confident that he has left anything to do with his father’s life behind him in New York City. Very quickly Vince figures out he can run but he can not hide from his father’s lifestyle.
This book has a really great beginning, middle and end. At the end of the book, the author, Gordan Korman leaves the reader with unanswered questions begging the reader to think for themselves.
I would recommend this book to boys and girls 12-14. Although, just like in the first book, ‘Son of the Mob 1’ this sequel will probably appeal more to boys because the main character is a boy and the whole story is written from a male point of view.
You can find this book at chapter, Kidsbooks and our own Vancouver Talmud Torah library.
Genre: Mystery, fiction and action.

Son of the mob
Written by: Gordon Korman
Vince’s dad, Anthony Luca, is the king of mobs in New York. Vince is a boy just like you and me, he goes to high school, he has family and friends and most of all he has his own way of thinking. The mob business a.k.a the vending machine business is not Vince’s dad’s job, it’s his life. The only problem is everywhere Vince goes it seems that something from his dads chosen lifestyle keeps on interfering.
I’d recommend this book to boys and girls age 10-14. Although it might appeal to boys more because the main character is a boy. You can find this book at chapters, Kids books and our own library.
Genre: Mystery, fiction and action.

benefits of primary sources
The benefits for primary sources, is to know if its original. Also when you find a primary source you have to know how read or tell what it shows. For example it can be in a different language, or written in hand writing. Another benefit is you can't find primary sources sometimes, because their private. But its an excellent source to use in a project.

Benefits of Primary Sources
Primary Sources have many benefits.
Primary Sources are true because they are first hand and not copied or made up.
Sometimes they express personal feelings or thoughts of a person like in a diary or journal.
Primary sources are good for biographies because they have certain details or emotions.
sometimes primary sources are hard to understand or hard to find the exact information that you might be looking for but since primary sources are first hand you are sure that the information is true and reliable.

There are many benefits to primary sources being that you know that the information or artifact is real or true because it is the origional. It also can give you important historical information that you know is true. There are also primary sources that could not be put on to the internet there for you could not interpret it wrong even though there are many good and useful things about primary sources there are also many bad things as well.

Primary Sources
I think that some benefits from primary sources are that it gives you information from history that other sources like websites might not have. Also, for example, if your primary source was a diary or journal, it has personal feelings and other important information that another source might not have. Also, if the primary source was a letter, other secondary sources might not have that. Also if it is a birth certificate or collage diploma, it is written on the paper andit is the real information and websites might have the wrong information.

Primary Sources
what are some of the benefits of primary sources? There are many benefits to primary sources and here i will tell you some of them and why; with primary sources there usually right because hey if your reading a diary who can be more right than the actual person? You also get to know the personality of the person by how they write if its a letter and in that same letter or diary you in a way get to experience it first hand. finally with a primary source its the original not a copy!. But remember with all advantages come disadvantages.

What are the benifits about primary sources?
There are tons of benefits about primary sources:
-Original material
-Its direct
-Usually true
-It is primary information
-The information may have been limited
-Even if you do a really good job transferring it onto a different site or something it will probably have errors
- Maybe the primary source has something on it like DNA that could be inspected and used as further information

What are some benefits of Primary Source?
I think primary sources are very good because if you want to know about somebody’s life during a war a text book can’t give you that kind of information. You know it’s real and not made up. You get the information first hand. But it’s very hard to find and some times somebody will make a false document. But over all primary sources are very helpful.

Some benefits to using primary sources are:
- You get the real information and not something made up.
- You get to know what the person was like, if the primary source is a journal or diary
- You find out what everyone was like to that person.
- You get the originality of it. It's not a copy; it's the real thing.

Benefits for Primary Sources
Primary sources are a very good source because it's first hand information! You can find more personal information about a person and it is also very reliable. The reason why we don't usually hear about primary sources is because they are extremely hard to find. Primary sources can range anywhere between letters and your grandmother!

Benefits of Primary Sources
I think primary sources are good because for example, if you are asking a grandparent about their childhood, they can give you first hand information for, lets say, your project. Primary sources are first hand information, which makes them very reliable. The one thing with primary sources, is that they are often hard to find, if you are looking for a letter, or a journal than looking for other types of information. Primary sources can be anything from a note or letter to a map.

Dani's Primary Sorces
Primary sorces are good because you know the information is true. From a primary sorce you can finde out more than in a book from clues/hints, like there personality. They are first acounts of things that have happended in history, along with preasent day. Primary sorces are good for projects, and reports because you can see into the time, place, peoples lifes. However primary sorces are extreamly hard to finde that is why they are such a tresure.

The Benifits of Primary Sources
I think Primary Sources have alot of benifits. One, they can show how some ones personality was along time ago through letters and diary's, you can't get that kind of first hand information from secoundary sources. Two, they provide personal information and Primary sources are hand writtin by a person, so you know that you can trust the information that it gives you. I think we should use primary sources more often if they were easier to get.

Primary Sources
Primary Sources can be very trustworthy and reliable. They are mostly considered to be reliable because they are first-hand written. Primary Sources might be about some one's life or feelings, which you can find in a journal. Or simply about something special they decided to record in either dairy or letter form. Primary Sources are extremely valuable because they are unbelievably hard to find. They can be an immense help in many cases. Salome

Moving from the big city of Manhattan to the tiny town of Hog’s Hollow, can be very tough. For Penny leaving her father and her best friend to move, is not exactly what she had in mind when she decided to live with her mom when her parents separated.
Hi, I’m Isobel and my book is called The Cupcake Queen by Heather Hepler.
When Penny moves to the small town of Hog’s Hollow, Penny doesn’t like it at all. All the girls of the town decide they hate her, and her mom running a cupcake shop does not make matters better. As time goes on Penny has regrets of moving there, but when she meets Tally, she starts to like it. Many thing happen in this book that will make you want to keep reading!

Dani's book talk
Jatta by Jenny Hale
The book is about a princess and her adventures with her brother to escape the evil king, her husbands to be, and the dark lord. While she is escaping them she has to deal with her becoming a wolf and her own battle with her inner dark side. On her adventure she finds the magic orb and is using its powers for good but she knows in the wrong hands it can be horrible. She does have good company though like her brother Arthmael, Dragon girl, her father, Steffed, Norigale, and others. She is on a quest to save her kingdom, save herself, to find her true guardian angel, and realize her own and others potential.
I’d recommend this book to 10-13 year olds and to people who like adventure, fiction, and, fantasy. I recommend the book to older kids because it has some gore in it.
You can find this book in the class library, chapters, and kidsbooks.

What did I learn from my fractured fairy tale?
I learned the structure of a story and that you have to make sure not just you understand your writing but so does the reader. I also learned the punctuation marks and how important they are. One of the toughest things for me is you have to be patient and rewrite many times. Everything I learnt really helped me create my story now and it will help me create many more in the long run.

The Lightening Thief book talk By Josha
Book Talk #1 By Josha
My book is The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan
Short description…
Percy Jackson thinks of himself as just a normal troubled kid that gets kicked out of every boarding school he has ever been to. When he finds out that he is actually a half-blood (half God half human) things go from bad to worse. He finds out that Zeus’s master bolt has been stolen and he is the prime suspect! Join him and his half-blood friends as they travel to the underworld and back encountering horrible monsters along the way.
The Hook…
Imagine stepping into a world where monsters roam and Gods rule. Now imagine that you’re just a normal ‘troubled’ kid and you find out that you’re actually a part of this world –you’re a half-blood!
(Half God half human.) Moreover, you’re being held responsible for taking Zeus’s master bolt!
Percy Jackson is that kid. Journey with him and his friends as they go deep into the underworld and back to try to clear Percy Jackson’s name!
Recommendations…
I’d recommend this book to kids ages 9-13 and to people who like exhilarating adventure.
Where to find it…
The Lightening Thief is available in the VTT library, The Vancouver Public library, Kidsbooks, Chapters, and Book Warehouse.

Otherwise known as Sheila the great
By: Neeve Mathews 6B
Have you ever felt like were bossed around by your sister or brother? Well that’s how Sheila felt when she went on a trip with her annoying sister Libby. My book is called “Otherwise known as Sheila the great”. This book is about a girl named Sheila who believes in cooties, who is afraid of dogs and terrified of spiders. Sheila has to go on a trip with her bossy sister Libby , she is not the kind of sister you would want to have. Can you imagine going on a vacation being bossed around being laughed at well that’s all the misery that Sheila had to go through. Even her parents were incredibly bossy they made Sheila go to swimming classes during the vacation. Sheila has always imagined on being a writer, so she attempts to start a camp newspaper. Sheila does not have a good vacation.
I’d recommend this book to grade 4 and up
This book is available in chapters, the school library, and the Vancouver public library.

Seth's Reflections
I learned a lot from this writing process. I learned how to use proper dialogue and I also learned a lot about sensory language, how to use it and when. I learned about leads not only for the fractured fairy take but how to make effective leads and what not to do to make it an ineffective lead. I also learned about helping other people with their stories with effective feedback. We learned about conclusions to stories, how to make a satisfying ending for the reader and not to disappoint the reader. We also learned about how to organize a story and to make sure that it is in order so that it is clear to the reader.

I learned that writing a story (fairytale) doesn't take just one draft and then your done , it takes time.
I learnedhow to use more sensory
language more, and dialogue. When we first started, I thought it was pretty easy, but as we continued into all our drafts there was much I didn't know. I didn't know that much about
usingsensory language in a way to grab the reader in my story, and I didn't know about how to properly write a good feedback comment.
I also found that the comments people gave back to me helped a lot, too. They gave me ideas of what to add, what to take out, and what was good or bad.
The rubric our whole class put together was also very helpful!

Josha's Reflections
Since we have started this whole fairy tale business I have learned a great many new things. For example, I have learned how to use proper dialogue (Before we learned about dialogue, I never used to pay attention to it), sensory language, grammar, and proof reading. I found out for myself that doing lots of different drafts really helps improve on your writing. I was very surprised when I saw my 1st draft and then I saw my final draft. I couldn't believe the improvement!

What I learned during our fractured fairy tale unit
I learned from my fractured fairy tales unit a lot of thing like how to write stories all over again, proper use of dialogue, using a tone of sensory language, how distinctive the begging, middle and end are and how there are so many different levels of writing you have to do before the finale draft. One of the main things i learned is that a paragraph doesn't have to be 5-7 sentences a paragraph is on one idea and is can be three sentences or twelve sentences. I also learned how to how to proofread. I enjoyed this unit!

Reflections By Izzy
I have learned a lot from all the writing we did leading up to our fractured fairy tales. For example, I learned about proper dialogue, how to use sensory language, how to plan out my stories and how to proofread. I also learned that it takes quite a few drafts to get a story right. The first one is just the start and it helps to have people read your story and give you feedback so you can fix things you didn't notice.

Dani's Reflections
I learned many things form the fractured fairy tales unit. One of the most important skills I learned was dialogue. I found that dialogue is very important in ones story because it can show the personality, depth, and being of your character. I learned the actual rules for dialogue, along with how to use it properly. I learned how to mark others on there work while being helpful to not only them but to myself. I learned how to tell what grade I would be getting beforehand with the rubric system. I thin one of the most important things that I learned was the way to lay out your story, from the reading of other fractured fairy tales to the final draft.

Noga`s Reflections
I think (actually I know) that I learned a lot of amazing things about our unit on fractured fairy tales this term. With Mr.Gelmon all of our grade learned how to write leads and conclusions. We also learned about dialogue, conventions and sensory language. I also learned about how to write our classmates good comments. Not the kind that sounds like you did not even read the story but the kind that you mean it, and you have a feeling inside that you did a great job on it.

This term i have learned how to use some new writing skills. Like, I never knew how to use dialogue, when to use dialogue and the rules of dialogue. I also learned how important it is to use sensory language. I think this fairy tale i wrote was the best thing I have ever written in my life because of all the writing skills I learned. This is what i learned in second term.

zenen's reflections
My reflections of this years fractured fairy tale unit. this years fairy tale unit was VERY helpful for learning pretty much all of the writing skills you need to write a proper story. I found that my final draft of my fractured fairytale was one of the best pieces of writing i have ever done. this is because of the huge amount of time we spent planning are fairy tales so in a sense we almost knew what we were going to write before we wrote it. I think that i exelled most in dialogue out of all the parts of writing a story. i think that this was a great project and to Mr. G you should definetly do this with all the other grade sixers to come,

Leor's Reflections On Our Writing Unit
As our writing unit started I was thinking to myself "We all know how to write stories, It's not that hard", But as we continued I realized "There is allot to learn about writing that I didn't know before". I learned how to write effective leads that grabs the reader, I learned how to proofread my writing with proper punctuation marks, I learned how to use Sensory Language properly in a sentence, I learned the rules of Dialogue. I learned how to organize my story so that it will have a clear beginning, middle, and end and most importantly I learned how to make an effective conclusion to leave the reader wanting more. We also read stories that had mistakes in all these 6 categories so that we will know what not do to. After our writing unit I definitely feel that I am a writing expert!

Yaakov's Reflections
I learned a lot from the process of making our Fractured Fairy Tales. I learned how to write dialogue correctly, and how to give comments that are important and that really help the writer. Comments that don't just say "Your story was good." or "I really enjoyed the story." I learned that comments aren't only supposed to be compliments. They are supposed to be helpful and they should tell the writer what he needs to fix and what should stay the way it is. I thought that in the end, the process was really worth it.

Salome's Reflections
I have learned a lot from my fractured fairy tale. I have learned how important it is to have a captivating lead and that we should remember not to make our conclusions random or unclear. I have also learned how to properly use dialogue. During these past few weeks we have done Peer Editing which was quite helpful. Our final drafts reflected on our deep and thoughtful hard work. Maayan's Reflections
This term I learned that writing a story cant be perfect on the first draft and that you have make a couple drafts before you can have your final draft. I learned how to make an effective lead and conclusion and not to leave the reader hanging at the end of your story. I learned that using sensory language can really grab the reader into the story. I learned how to write dialogue with proper conventions and I also learned how to do peer editing. I really enjoyed learning how to construct a proper story this term.

Jamie's Reflections!
What I learned by writing the twisted fairytales was how to use the six traits of writing effectively and efficiently.
I learned how to write a lead effectively because now I can write a lead that grabs a reader and makes people want to read my story. I learned how to use conventions effectively because now I can make proper sentences that actually make sense and don’t make the reader stop and have to figure out how to read it. I learned how to use dialogue effectively because I can now write dialogue and make it interesting and use all of the rules of dialogue. I learned how to use sensory language because now I can write a story that is interesting and captivating by using interesting and captivating words such as “She ran as fast as she could, panting and sweating, she stumbled upon a protruding root.” I learned how to organize my story and be smoother than before, also for it to make more sense to the reader. I learned how to write and effective conclusion and close the story with a “BANG!” instead of a “slosh…”

Hana's reflections!
In term two I learned a lot of new skills about writing. I learned that you shouldn't jump to the first draft before knowing all the ideas and details that are going in to your story. One way that I learned how to do this, was by reading essays or narratives (etc.) that had the same idea as my topic, then map out my story. I have also learned how to use proper dialogue skills, sensory language, leads and conclusions. When I look back to how I wrote last year and then read my fractured fairy tale, I think WOW! Iv'e improved.

Joelle's Reflections
This term I learnt a lot about constructing a short story. I learnt how to make an effective lead and conclusion, for example to grab the reader, and not to be random with the ending. I learnt how to use strong sensory language, clear dialogue, and how to peer edit. I learnt that it's not easy to have a perfect story, that it takes time, effort, and more than just one draft. When I look at my first draft, then my final draft, I see many changes that and I see how much it has improved. I really understand how to use the basics of writing now.

In term two I have learned a lot about writting. From reading other people's stories to writting our own. I learned how to write proper leads, conclusions, and dialogue. I have also learned how to use dialogue, how to place it, if it needs to be capitilized, if it should be indented ect. I would like to thank the editors who helped me write my 2nd and final draft. I can look back and see all my emprovment.

Isobel's Reflections
In term two I learned a lot about writing. From reading other stories similar to your idea, to finishing my final draft. I learned that writing is not easy, it takes time and effort. Good sensory language, dialogue, leads, conclusions are what make a story effective. I learned with Mr. Gelmon how to use all those skills properly. Also I look back and can see how different my first draft is to my final draft, thanks to my peer editors!

Jacob's Reflections
I learned about what makes a lead a good lead and also what makes a lead a bad lead - a good lead has to catch the writers attention and make them want more. A bad lead is boring and leaves the reader wanting to read another book.
I also learned about dialogue and how to use it properly in a sentence.
Learning about conclusions was interesting - I learned that a good conclusion is something that is very satisfying to the reader. A bad conclusion, is something random, like "And then I woke up" or something boring like "And then I died".
Learning how to make a good story is a very long process, but I think that in the end, the end result was definitely worth it.

My Reflections
Reflections
By Gil Ashkenazy 6B
Effective leads draw the reader into the story. The beginning of a story usually makes or breaks whether people will read it.
“I learned a lot of skills about writing dialogue,” expressed Gil. “It’s easier than I thought it would be.”
Did you know that a paragraph is not just a random collection of sentences? It is actually a group of sentences that relate to the same idea. A paragraph is like a container that contains one idea. It usually has a topic sentence and a conclusion. Five to seven sentences make up an ideal paragraph. I learned the value of sensory images. For example, I could see the pale blue sky, smell the fresh aroma of cinnamon buns, feel the mud between my toes and I could hear the birds chirping while I was writing my story. Learning about fairy tale breakdown is an important part of learning to write fairy tales. Writing fractured fairy tales is an interesting process.
